Digital Art

Students in this 3rd-5th grade electives learned about basic photoshop skills and created their own unique animal hybrid:

Students in this 3rd-5th grade electives learned about how the principles of design can be used when taking and composing a photograph. Students also learned about the basic components of a digital SLR camera and were asked to take “zoomed in” photographs around the Sheridan campus.

Students then learned basic digital photography editing skills to de-saturate their photos and adjust the brightness and contrast levels. Their final photographs were then printed on a transparent vellum paper and placed on top of gold leaf to achieve an antiquated look.

Surrealist Photos:
Students looked at the work of Surrealist artists, including Salvador Dali. They learned basic photoshop layering and editing skills to compose their own Surrealist landscapes.

Typography Project:
Students learned basic typography vocabulary and techniques to create their own unique font. They then used this font to design a logo using their photoshop layering and editing skills.

Self Portrait Photographs:
Students began their year by learning about three tips to use when taking photographs. (The Rule of Thirds, Fill the Frame, and Lighting) They used these three photographic tips to take portraits of each other, inspired by the work of photographer Adde Adesokan. Students completed their triptychs by editing the saturation, brightness, and contrast of the photographs using pixlr photo editor.
