Eric Carle Style Butterflys

Kindergarten students started this project by reading "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?" and learning about the color wheel and how to mix secondary colors.  They then created a small abstract warm and cool color painting mixing the secondary colors.  Students then read the story "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and looked closely at the collages in Eric Carle's illustrations. Using their abstract warm and cool color paintings, students created a collage of their own beautiful butterfly inspired by Eric Carle's illustrations!
