5th Grade Reusable Bags

5th grade students began this unit by learning about how plastic has negatively impacted the environment, specifically in regards to marine life. We discussed ways that artists have been able to make a difference in the world through art. Students were then tasked to create their own reusable bag to help diminish the use of plastic bags and help make a positive impact on the environment. 

Students created an image that represents an issue or topic they wish they could change in the world. By creating this image they are able to bring attention to this issue everytime they go out in public and use their bags. Their final works of art are not only beautiful to look at but are also helping to make a positive difference in the world!
