Creative Clay Creatures

1st grade students began this unit by reading the book "On Beyond Zebra!” by Dr. Seuss.  Students then learned ways that they can use their own creativity to go “On Beyond Z.” Using their imaginations 1st graders drew a few brand new creative creatures.  Next, they sculpted forms to transform their drawings into clay sculptures.  Now the letters they use are something to see, because most people stop at the Z... but not 1st grade!
